The Haut-Barr Castle
(concluded)

From the rock which we saw in the previous page, here is the view on the first rock, the northern one. The stair which formerly lead from the top of the rock to the chapel below, is located in the kind of chimney made in stonework, flattened against the rock. Today, this stair ends up ten meters over the ground. On the right, you can see the city of Saverne in the plain of Alsace.

The stair between the rock and the chapel

To access to this rock which dominates the chapel, here is the scale which has been installed at the beginning of the 20th century.

The scale

This precarious scale has later been replaced by a solid stair which is still at the same place.

The stair

Lets go now to the two castles of Great- and Little-Geroldseck, which are located nearby the Haut-Barr.
