In 1898 the Saverne Association of the Alsace and Lorraine Friends of the Roses created
the Rosery of Saverne. This garden is open to the public and presents a very large variety of roses.
Located at the west entrance of the city, along the Zorn river, the Rosery offers its flower beds, its thickets and its arbours in full view of everybody.
The Roses Fair, which was still held in Saverne in the years 1920-30, formed an occasion to present the wide range of roses varieties. There was also a procession of floral floats. This is a float of the 3rd edition, in june 1927.
During the german period, in 1911, the Roses Fair and the Association of Roses Friends had a prestigious patronage: Countess von Wedel, spouse of Count von Wedel, "governor" of Alsace (Statthalter).
