Various monuments

There aren't so much monuments in Saverne. In addition to the Rohan Castle that we've already seen, it is possible to see fragments of the Roman town walls, along the canal, and also some vaults that were found on the heights around the city. They were placed in the little garden, next to the catholic church.

However, we have a superb roman church, which eldest parts were built in the 12th century: the Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. We've already admired its splendid bell tower porch. It's the main church of Saverne's catholic parish.

The Recollet Church, another monument of Saverne, is more recent. It's the church of the old Recollets Monastery, a community which came to Saverne at the beginning of the 14th century.

Formerly there was another unusual monument in Saverne, installed on Castle's Place: the obelisk. But it was destroyed at the Liberation.
